{"id":24,"date":"2018-09-12T10:49:23","date_gmt":"2018-09-12T10:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/?page_id=24"},"modified":"2018-12-30T18:16:04","modified_gmt":"2018-12-30T18:16:04","slug":"doe","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/?page_id=24","title":{"rendered":"DoE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/dofe_logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/dofe_logo-300x85.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"85\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/dofe_logo-300x85.png 300w, https:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/dofe_logo.png 528w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of Sept 2018 I&#8217;m starting towards my Bronze award.<\/p>\n<p>For this I need to complete the following challenges\/tasks.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0 \u00a0Physical.<br \/>\nFor this I have chosen Cycling as my individual sport.\u00a0 \u00a0My aim is to cycle for at least one hour per week over a 12 week period.\u00a0 \u00a0Obviously there may be times where I&#8217;ll cycle for more than hour and due to it being in the run up to winter I may have to do further\/cycle for longer to keep up at least the minimum requirements.\u00a0 Considering the possibility of bad weather towards the end of the year we&#8217;ll probably do more frequent\/longer runs at the start when the weather is better.<\/p>\n<p>I plan to use the Strava App on my phone to track my progress for each of my rides out.\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;ll be joined with my Assessor &#8211; Craig McAteer for the rides.<\/p>\n<p>We have agreed that we&#8217;ll both use the first ride out as a benchmark on which to base progress of the other rides.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The first ride will be a relatively easy going run along the river in Maidstone and back and we&#8217;ll continue for as long as the hour will take us.<\/p>\n<p>Future rides will consist of setting goals to beat based on previous runs.\u00a0 \u00a0These will include increasing speed during segments or even taking alternative routes to increase elevation climbing to provide more of a physical exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The first run.\u00a0 \u00a0 By clicking on the links\u00a0 e.g. where it says D of E 1,\u00a0 you&#8217;ll get the full details of speed, climb, etc.\u00a0 \u00a0You will also see any photographs that have been uploaded that we took along the route &#8211; annoyingly my phone died during the session so we had to resort to using my assessors log from the session.<br \/>\nSimilar distance to last weeks run but with the introduction of some hills.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/1887415736\/embed\/2c3f1b9da231667c742d161859540413b6ea1398\" width=\"590\" height=\"405\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 525px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-24-1\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_5759.m4v?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_5759.m4v\">http:\/\/www.lucyleetham.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/IMG_5759.m4v<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p><strong>Third run.<\/strong><br \/>\nTook the opportunity to visit some of the Tommies that were installed on the White Cliffs of Dover.\u00a0 \u00a0The cycling distance was shorter but the hills were much steeper to go from sea level up to to the top of the cliffs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/1906229403\/embed\/94fa3284e8181dd0f6a4b3db554f95d2668a9637\" width=\"590\" height=\"405\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fourth Run.<\/strong><br \/>\nThis was an extended run with the addition of some steeper hills at the start\u00a0 \u00a0 We also increased the distance by 25% over previous runs.\u00a0 \u00a0To be honest, my legs were done in the last couple of miles.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/1908175959\/embed\/09612faa7d68209c38da7d25127572e530a38fa2\" width=\"590\" height=\"405\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fifth Run<br \/>\n<\/strong>Venturing out to introduce some roads to me to build my confidence of being on the road mixing with traffic.\u00a0 \u00a0The route was primarily on quiet roads\/tracks.<br \/>\nWe managed to get soaking wet feet having to cycle through a very deep puddle below an underpass due to recent rain.\u00a0 \u00a0Despite that we still cycled a further 14 miles with wet feet.<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/1956427387<strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.strava.com\/activities\/1956427387\/embed\/6a029cdf7f3eda2c235b62266c045da1842aaf0f\" width=\"590\" height=\"405\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sixth run<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the M20 being closed this weekend we opted to head to the East where the back roads would be quieter.\u00a0 \u00a0So we headed along Pilgrims way to Hollingbourne.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The hills were tough today;
